About Us

The initiative of LOOP Youngstown is to purchase a building to create an arts and culture center.

 

We at the LOOP envision a vibrant scene of artist studios, classes, rehearsals, performances, offices, galleries, artist mentoring and residencies--we have So. Many. Ideas. You may know a hub like this in another community, and we want to create one in the heart of Youngstown.

Our working committee includes two dozen artists and arts and community organizers, including an electrician, CDC staffer, art museum registrar, graphic designer, NPR producer, and many others. The artists work in drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, film, dance, theater, sound, storytelling and creative writing. 

In addition, we are working with many community organizations: 

 

• Youngstown Area Community Concert Band and Reverie Movement Collective need rehearsal and storage space

• Purple Cat (a nonprofit for adults with disabilities) needs theater rehearsal and performance space

• Lit Youngstown (a literary arts nonprofit) needs office, teaching and lending library space 

• Youngstown Pictures (a film company) needs a large space to build sets, film, and teach the craft of filmmaking 

• Rust Belt Theatre needs theater rehearsal and performance space
