illustrator
I am a local artist/illustrator who works mostly in Mixed Media. I am a traditionally trained artist with digital experience as well. My skills and content range from portraits, people, and animals to photo-manipulated works primarily for poster illustrations.
In reflection of various stages of my life as an artist, I have come to the conclusion that I work in the “spirit of the moment.” I have had a lot of directions and paths that gave me extensive experiences as well as lessons learned. I do not have a traditional or even contemporary style. I work an idea or thought out into a visual composition with various mediums, depending on the way I want the finished product to appeal to the viewer. I think that with my range and spontaneity, it is difficult to place me into a specific category within the art community.
In some cases, my work might look like it is unfinished, but the piece might be just a thought or an incomplete idea. I can produce well-thought out illustrations or artworks according to the client’s details as well. Most of the time, I like working in a poster style or traditional fine art venue. There is a constant conflict within my decision on the approach of showing my work as a traditional fine art piece or as a contemporary illustration. I feel that the viewer is going to like it either way; however they will have a conflicting emotion inside as to the meaning or what is happening in the piece.
Overall, I think that my work is unique not only in the way it is composed, but also in the execution of the final image. I have had a lot of struggles with categorizing or having a “cohesive” look to my work. I understand the necessity of having a certain look for clients and overall familiarity to be recognized; however, I think I have a style that stands out from the group just in the overall completed artwork.
