Lindsay DeLullo, landscape painter and printmaker, creates artwork centered around her nature-based experiences and the history of her hometown here in Poland, Ohio. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Studio Art (Painting and Printmaking Emphasis) and a minor in Marketing from Youngstown State University in December of 2024. During college, she worked as a Gallery Assistant at the McDonough Museum of Art, and as a Studio Assistant for the Printmaking Department at YSU. Additionally, she studied abroad in Glasgow, Scotland in 2023 for printmaking at the Glasgow Print Studio. Currently, she is an Associate Registrar at the Butler Institute of American Art. Her work has been exhibited in over 30 local exhibitions, and she has completed several murals in Ohio

 

By utilizing painting and printmaking as a medium for introspection and musing, I seek to pay tribute to the landscape of my hometown in Poland, Ohio. The locations depicted in my work reference areas I have felt drawn to throughout my life for both their history and ecosystem. Driving my process is nature-based spirituality, collective memories related to the landscape, and daily happenings that become ordinary magic. I find that concepts of ephemerality, awe, and personification result from my observations and experiences. By gathering inspiration on foot or bike, my work is sourced from the art of noticing, paired with the stories these vistas have offered me. 

By manipulating surfaces via the addition of water or subtraction of materials via distression, visual disruption results. Leaving parts missing or altered signifies that there is more than meets the eye. The juxtaposition of presence against absence serves as a documentary technique. As a result, my work is not a perfect representation of a landscape, but a tribute of sorts to all that the landscape reveals to me. My work serves as a means of expression where I may explore the close relationship I have with this landscape.
